Council Member Kamin Partners with Downtown Houston+ to Bring EV Charging Stations to Buffalo Bayou Park
Houston, Texas – Championed and funded by Council Member Abbie Kamin, today Houston City Council approved a contract with the Downtown Redevelopment Authority (Downtown Houston+) to provide two electric vehicle (EV) charging stations along Allen Parkway, within Buffalo Bayou Park.
Years in the making, this agreement represents the revival of meaningful investment in Houston’s sustainable infrastructure. District C has some of the largest numbers of EV users, but few charging stations exist in public spaces. The total agreement which directs $100,000 in District C discretionary funds, is the first initiative of its kind to support the installation of two charging stations (with two vehicle connections each) at Buffalo Bayou Park, one of the most iconic and visited green spaces in Houston.
